Weaving with Handpainted Yarns, Presented by Just Our Yarns

Date: November 10 - 11, 2016
Time: 10:00AM - 4:00PM
Location:
Vestry of Congregational Church, Westborough, MA
Level: All levels

Class Description:

Do handpainted yarns call to you until you get them home and then they fall silent? Explore how handpainted yarns combined with the choice of weave structure can create extraordinarily magical results.

Study the effects hue, value and thread size have on structure. Weaving in round-robin format, you will explore classic weave structures using variegated yarns in both warp and weft to create surprising and unique fabrics.

Colorful Yarn Woven Samples

You will warp your loom prior to class with yarn provided by Just Our Yarns. Participants will be assigned weft colors as a jumping off point and from there weave multiple samples using a variety of JOY yarns and colors--exploring beyond the expected. Through presentation, discussion, and weaving you will gain the confidence to weave with multiple variegated yarns and revel in the unlimited color possibilities.

Wedge Weave Fundamentals, Presented by Connie Lippert

Date: March 9 - 11, 2017
Time: 10:00AM - 4:00PM
Location:
Vestry of Congregational Church, Westborough, MA
Level: Warping and weaving knowledge with some experience of weft-faced weaves.

Class Description:

In contrast to most weaves which are woven in a plane horizontal to the loom, wedge weave is woven on the diagonal. This results in a weft-faced weaving with many distinctive characteristics and exciting design potential. Work on your own pre-warped loom to explore wedge weave through hands-on experience as well as with detailed handouts and images.
